Honda 2Wheelers achieves a new high in exports business Expands to European market with SP125 CKD kits

New Delhi, 22 October, 2020: Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) announced the exports of its next generation 125cc, advanced & stylish motorcycle – SP125 to Europe. The motorcycle is exported via the CKD route.

Speaking on this achievement Mr. Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “The transition from BSIV to BSVI was a challenging phase for Indian automobile industry. Honda 2Wheelers India converted this challenge into opportunity to export to advanced countries and have started exporting CKD kits of our 125cc Motorcycle SP125 to Europe. This is a testimony of our superior quality and technology as well as commitment to expand our global footprint. We are looking forward to expand to many new markets in future.”

Consignments carrying over 2000 CKD kits of its next generation 125 cc Motorcycle – SP125 to Europe have been dispatched since August 2020.

Its noteworthy that SP125 was the first BSVI motorcycle launched by Honda in India last year (November 2019). Powered by 19 new patent applications, the brand new SP125 BSVI has a completely new 125cc HET engine with eSP technology that delivers 16% more mileage and packs in punch with as many as 9 segment first technology & features in SP125 (full digital meter, distance to empty, average fuel efficiency, real-time fuel efficiency, LED DC headlamp, Engine Start/Stop switch, Integrated headlamp beam/Passing switch, Eco Indicator, Gear Position Indicator).

SP125 BSVI is currently being manufactured at Honda 2Wheelers, Tapukara Plant in Rajasthan.

Despatched consignments from its South Factory to Saurashtra

Gurugram/Gujarat, December15, 2020: Synergizing economics with ecology, Honda 2Wheelers India is now India’s first automobile company to adopt the newly inaugurated Ro-Pax ferry service connecting Hazira (Surat) and Ghogha (Bhavnagar) in the Gulf of Khambhat (Gujarat), in collaboration with Indigo Seaways Pvt. Ltd.

Soon after the new route was inaugurated by Hon’ble PM Modi on 8th November, Honda dispatched its first two-wheeler consignment using the Hazira-Ghogha Ro-Pax ferry service from its Narsapura plant in Karnataka to Veraval (near Somnath) in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat.

Utilising this new & efficient logistics way, the delivery time and distance for Honda’s new two-wheelers reaching the Saurashtra region from south factory has significantly reduced. Compared with the earlier full road route, the transit time reduced by 2 days (from 7 days to 5 days) and distance by 465 kms respectively.

The Hazira-Ghogha Ro-Pax ferry service is not only faster and more cost efficient; but also environmental friendly. With this new route, Honda is reducing its carbon emissions by approximately 311 kg/trip!

Commenting on the rationale of being the first adopter of new Hazira – Ghogha Ro-Pax service,
Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “At Honda we believe we have a responsibility to apply our innovations, technologies & initiatives to improve the lives of the people while minimizing the environmental impacts of our products and business operations to ensure a sustainable future for society. Sharing his thoughts on the advantages of Hazira – Ghogha Ro-Pax service, Capt. D K Manral, CEO Indigo Seaways Pvt. Ltd. (DG SEA CONNECT) said,
“Globally, RoPax Services are most popular in advanced countries and continents which have vast and large amount of oceans and inland waterways. Primarily these ferries either cut short the distance through Sea route or divert the traffic from over congested highways to underutilized sea ways.

Since Independence India has been wanting to enter this advanced maritime logistic field and the present Govt. moved into specialized route on 8th Nov’2020 with the launch of “GHOGHA – HAZIRA ROPAX SERVICES” across the gulf of Khambath.

This ferry is the “GATEWAY TO SOUTH GUJARAT & SAURASHTRA REGION” and has eliminated the road distance between Ghogha and Hazira to 1/4th and the present transit time of 10 to 12 hours to a mere 4 hours. More importantly it would reduce CO2 emission by 24 Tons / day and 8653 Tons/ annually. The Greenhouse gases thus saved would have substantial positive impact on climatic change.

They were in regular connect with ISPL RoRo Operator & were keen to explore the logistical advantages for their market and customers in Saurashtra and North Gujarat. Earlier also in 2018, Honda 2Wheelers India was the first two-wheeler company to adopt inland waterways transport with Ro-Pax Dahej – Ghogha ferry service in Gujarat. The wonder route brought new speed, cost saving and ecological benefits for all Honda shipments from its southern plant in Karnataka to the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. Between 2018 and 2020, Honda had successfully dispatched 19,200 units through the earlier Dahej – Ghogha ferry, resulting in 1-day time saving per shipment, approximately 4% freight cost reduction and a significant 101,304 kg carbon emissions reduction!

The film opens with the wife, in front of the mirror, humming to herself when suddenly her husband comes up and reminisces about their college days. Starting off the conversation, the man confirms her subject stream by prompting ‘Maths Honours?’  and then introduces himself as ‘Neeraj Srivastava, Chemistry Honours’. Further complimenting, he tells his wife that ‘it is unfair for a beautiful girl to be alone in the library’.

The husband then asks if she would like to go out with him for dinner? To which she retorts that the dialogues are 20 years old and he should come up with something new.

Responding to the wife’s demand, he says, ‘Naya laya hoon, tabhi toh purani baat yaad aagayi’ and opens the door to show her the Anniversary Special Edition of Activa 6G. He then presents her with the key of Activa and says ‘Ek Naya Safar Shuru Karein!’

The video ends on a heartfelt message that commemorates the 20-year long relationship of Honda’s Activa with its customers that has become even more precious with the Activa 6G Anniversary Edition.

While celebrating the unparalleled leadership and ever growing relation with its customers, the campaign introduces Activa 6G 20th Anniversary Limited Edition which was unveiled recently.

Since its inception in 2001, Activa reactivated the scooter segment and with every generation continues to change the way India rides.

Twenty years is a long journey and Activa is so special. ‘Zindagi do pahiyon se chalti hai’…and we wanted to celebrate this journey of two decades with a special story that not only reflects on the beautiful past but shows the promise of a special future. We thought it would be great to see the journey through the eyes of the husband even as he recreates couple’s very first interaction inside the college library. It was good fun bringing the playful script to life.”

About the film: ‘Zindagi do pahiyon se chalti hai’

The film opens with the wife, in front of the mirror, humming to herself when suddenly her husband comes up and reminisces about their college days. Starting off the conversation, the man confirms her subject stream by prompting ‘Maths Honours?’  and then introduces himself as ‘Neeraj Srivastava, Chemistry Honours’. Further complimenting, he tells his wife that ‘it is unfair for a beautiful girl to be alone in the library’.

The husband then asks if she would like to go out with him for dinner? To which she retorts that the dialogues are 20 years old and he should come up with something new.

Responding to the wife’s demand, he says, ‘Naya laya hoon, tabhi toh purani baat yaad aagayi’ and opens the door to show her the Anniversary Special Edition of Activa 6G. He then presents her with the key of Activa and says ‘Ek Naya Safar Shuru Karein!’

The video ends on a heartfelt message that commemorates the 20-year long relationship of Honda’s Activa with its customers that has become even more precious with the Activa 6G Anniversary Edition.
